Eight years after the Maria actress sued to dissolve their -year marriage at the grounds of irreconcilable variations, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have struck a settlement in their divorce.

According to Jolie’s attorneys, Angelina Jolie, 49, and Pitt, sixty one, accepted their divorce on Monday, December 30.

Days after a non-public jet trip on which she claimed Pitt had abused her and their six kids, Jolie filed for divorce on September 19, 2016. At the time, authorities did no longer prosecute Pitt, and Jolie selected now not to convey prices.

In a joint statement issued four months later, the ex-couple stated that they had agreed to process their divorce in a private setting and that they would use a private judge to keep any further information about their divorce private.

“The parents are committed to acting as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification,” the statement said at the end.

Pitt and Angelina Jolie had been engaged in “tense” divorce talks before to the 2017 privacy agreement, which focused on custody disputes and the exchange of scathing accusations in Los Angeles Superior Court files. They decided to seal private documents pertaining to their six children in January 2017.

The former couple fought throughout the next years over custody and legal matters concerning Château Miraval, a $164 million French chateau and winery they jointly owned.

Jolie formed the company Nouvel, which brought the complaint. After the couple’s 2016 breakup, the firm said Pitt “masterminded a so-far-successful plan to seize control” of Château Miraval.

Throughout 2024, the couple has been fighting over Miraval, which has nothing to do with their divorce. When a court in the case decided in November that Pitt had to reveal emails and messages that Jolie’s attorney Paul Murphy says would support her claims of abuse against Pitt and “years of cover-up” on his part, Angelina Jolie won the case.
