Born April 10, 1952 in Lansing, Michigan, Steven Seagal is an actor and director. The son of Patricia, a medical technician, and Samuel, a mathematics teacher, he lived in Lansing until he was five years old before moving. With his two brothers and his sister and their parents, they settled in Fullerton, California.

At the age of seven, Steven Seagal discovered a passion for martial arts. He began practicing karate and aikido, and began performing in martial arts establishments in California. After a brief stint at Buena Park University, the young man went to live in Japan in 1971, in order to improve his martial arts.
