Robyn Brown‘s ambition of creating a large, contented, polygamous family has always been well known. However, it seems that that vision did not necessarily include a legal marriage to husband Kody Brown.
Robyn and Kody’s ex-wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown, talked about Meri’s choice to divorce Kody, 55, so that he could legally marry Robyn, 46, in the Sunday, December 29 episode of Sister Wives.
Robyn Brown And Kody Brown’s relationships
In a different confessional, Meri described how she believed that officially divorcing Kody Brown was what she “needed to do.” She then recounted that the patriarch of the Brown family was “really kind” and “present in our relationship for, you know, a month or so” before things started to fade.
“The legal marriage really seemed very important to Meri,” Janelle, 55, told the cameras, expressing her suspicion that the decision to officially divorce Kody was not Meri’s choice. “I assumed Meri would never do this, so when she told us that she was doing it, I was kind of dumbfounded. At that point, I had already begun to see that Kody Brown was showing Robyn a little partiality, and I was concerned,” she stated.
According to Christine’s recollection, “when Robyn first came into the family, she started talking to us about these other families where the first wife divorced the husband so he could marry the second wife and legally adopt the kids.” Christine is 52.
Robyn Brown became Kody’s fourth wife and a member of the Brown family in 2010. In addition to being spiritually wed to Janelle since 1993 and Christine since 1994, he had previously been legally wedded to Meri since 1990.
In order for Kody Brown to officially marry Robyn Brown and adopt her children from her previous marriage, Meri legally divorced him in 2014. After thirty years of marriage, the long-term pair finally split up in 2023, and Meri subsequently secured a formal divorce decree from their church citing abandonment.
In the months preceding Kody’s divorce from Meri, Janelle and Christine also divorced him.
