As the royals prepare to assemble at Sandringham House for the celebrations in the upcoming weeks, the Prince of Wales has expressed his excitement about spending Christmas with 45 people this year.

In his capacity as colonel-in-chief, Prince William discussed his plans Tuesday while attending a Christmas gathering for the families of the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in Bulford, Wiltshire.

At Charles’s private home in Norfolk, the King and Queen, along with their extended family, are anticipated to celebrate a traditional royal Christmas with the Prince and Princess of Wales, their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. 

William first met the regimental mascot, Private Derby XXXIII, an 18-month-old Swaledale, at Picton Barracks. He next greeted troops and their families and distributed gift bags to kids gathered around a Christmas tree. Watch below.

Leah St Clair-Lewis from the WRVS was also informed by the Prince that he would be “enjoying walks with his dogs at Sandringham.”

Due to his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced Duke of York withdrew from public life in 2019. However, he typically appears in public on Christmas Day with his family. Last year, Sarah, Duchess of York, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, was one of the unexpected guests after being invited by her.
