Mark ZuckerbergCEO of Meta, made a rather alarming prediction about the economic crisis the world is facing.
The war in Ukraine, inflation and energy prices mean that nothing is certain. Zuckerberg did not hide his opinion that things are worrying
“We may be facing one of the worst recessions in recent history,” Zuckerberg said during a question and answer session with staff.
“To be realistic, it is likely that many employees of the company should not be here.”
Reuters reported that Meta had already informed its employees that they would be laying off 30 percent of their engineers by 2023.
The CEO urged his staff to work to higher standards in the face of the looming recession.
More pressure on Meta staff
“Part of my hope for raising expectations, setting more aggressive goals and just a slight rise in temperature is that I think some of you may decide that this place is not for you and that I will be fine with my own choice. “,” Zuckerberg added.
“We live in hard times and the headwind is tough. We need to work in a slower growth environment where teams don’t have to expect a huge influx of new engineers and budgets.”
