Yapaslefeuaulac at the Christmas market in Basel

Living in Alsace, the Christmas market there is a very important tradition. I would never have thought of visiting them at the border… However, the Basel Christmas market is really beautiful!
Until December 23, Basel held Its christmas market, Exploded in various places: this Basler Weihnachtsmarkt Swiss German.
The Christmas lights on the streets of Basel give it a magical atmosphere. We walked in the sky and rediscovered its heritage and characteristic architecture.
After hearing about the Christmas market, I would like to go there one night after get off work. As night falls, it seems very suitable for use after get off work. From the station, you can walk to the area in 15-20 minutes, or just take the tram to Barfüsserplatz.
Basel Christmas Market location
Here are the differences:
Around the cathedral (Munster square): In this big square, I think it is the most beautiful! The trees are illuminated, and the most important thing is this amazing Christmas pyramid, a light and moving nativity scene as it rotates! And a large Christmas tree decorated by John WarnerThe chalet offers plenty of snacks and drinks, and Stube also has a cool indoor place.
Bar square: This square ushered in a brightly lit cottage village. Some cabins can be entered without entering the market
Rhine (Kleinbasel): It is quieter and more private. There is a small market in Kleinbasel district. There is a trailer where you can have a drink. A beautiful courtyard has become a restaurant under the stars with a brazier. Hot pot served on the gondola! Its official name: “Adväntsgass im Glaibasel”
To enter, the perimeter of the market will be closed every time you have to show your Covid Pass and ID card. Pay attention to the closing time, it will not last very late.

Basel Christmas market stalls
Like all Christmas markets, there are many stalls selling handicrafts and gift ideas. I found Basel’s offer to be quite qualitative! I remember the different stalls of Christmas decorations, including gorgeous glass balls, and more kitsch and alternative proposals. In the process, the fennel biscuit mold rack above attracted my attention (Münsterplatz)! I will bring some, they are so beautiful.I already have such a mold, found in Alsace, because tradition transcends national boundaries, I show you Act there.
I also like to make my own candles at the ends of the wires to soak in the barrel (Barfüsserplatz) and the stationery stand operated by the Basel Paper Museum (Barfüsserplatz itou).
So, is the Basel Christmas Market worth it? In my opinion, this is a big affirmation! I left happily… For the French, the creative price of gifts on the booth is not attractive, but you can definitely find a reasonable selection of drinks and snacks.
I hope this little post will give you a good impression of Advent! And you, would you go to see the Christmas market?I still have some to visit under my mask…
