The Nigerian Government says it has started an investigation into some generator importers, manufacturers, assemblers and distributors, especially Mikano, Jubali Brothers and JMG.

This is exposed in a statement by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) that said it has received credible intelligence and is conducting preliminary inquiries.

A serious investigation: The wide investigation of generator importers, manufacturers, assemblers and distributors is to confirm if the reported incidents of overpricing, multiple or duplicitous models, import and or customs clearing malpractices and other crimes.

To this end, the FCCPC is seeking the help of Nigerian customers who are willing to share their experiences with generator manufacturers, importers and assemblers.

A search warrant: Meanwhile, the FCCPC said it obtained a search warrant and order from the Federal High Court after convincing the court that there is probable cause and prima facie evidence of violations of the FFCPC Act.

The Commission said it executed search warrants on identified targets and obtained specific information from the targets of the investigation, citing the progress of forensic analysis, hearings and inquiries.

  • “The purpose of the search warrant and order is to secure important information and evidence from the main targets and major industry players whose businesses and practices are linked to the intelligence obtained so far and the surveillance work. done,” the statement said.
