Which anime character is the strongest?

There are plenty of strong main characters in the realm of anime. A common theme in anime and manga, especially in the Shonen subgenre, is the portrayal of a brave young hero who overcomes any challenge that comes his way, even when he appears to be in a difficult situation. This means that a huge number of characters can be considered “the strongest of all time”.

But if every main character could overcome every challenge put in their way, who would win if everyone anime universes collide in one battle royale mode?

We are trying to answer this question, although no one can give a definitive answer. For, you know, scientific reasons. Here are comments from anime enthusiasts in response to a particularly tricky question.

Spoilers alert!

Saitama from “One-Punch Man”

“Normally, I’d go with Goku [of Dragon Ball], but it’s obvious that Saitama is set to replace the most powerful anime character ever. Saitama hasn’t even broken a sweat in any of his fights, regardless of how his character was created.” — 24-year-old Joshua Zamora

“Because he defeats his opponents without even trying.” 32-year-old Anton Honrado

“In my opinion, the strongest anime character of all time has to be Saitama from One-Punch Man. And I believe many people will agree. His superhuman the power allows him to destroy all enemies with one blow. So far, no one has seriously hurt or beaten him. It seems so ordinary and has a different aesthetic than the superhero clichés we’re used to seeing, but has the power to take down extinction-level threats in one punch (without going back into it). He could probably beat any other anime hero, including Goku. —24-year-old Rafał Banico

Saitama anime character

“Unlike others shōnen heroes such as Goku from Dragon Ball, Ichigo from Bleach and Luffy from One piecehe lacks special abilities. Saitama is best known for his unique ability to strike an opponent once with such force that depending on how much he suppresses his true power, he will either pass out or die. Even against more powerful and interstellar enemies like Boros and Garou who can block his blow, this still applies. Even Saitama’s toughest opponents take serious damage with just one of his punches due to the strength of each one.” — 22-year-old Joseph Raphael L. Perez

“The designer of One-Punch Man … created from the beginning an all-powerful character whose main attribute is simply that he is the most powerful being on earth, not tenacity or dedication. Usually the main shonen character manga or an anime defeats a threat by appearing to cross the line, only for another, stronger threat to come along, and so on.

“Unlike One-Punch Man, it shows Saitama’s world growing stronger in a blink-wink-nod scenario where the reader or audience pretends there is a chance Saitama won’t win even though everyone knows it will end in one punch. Therefore, One-Punch Man rendered this argument irrelevant due to the genre’s self-awareness and surrounding meta-narrative. — Las Candelaria, 29

Satoru Gojo from “Jujutsu Kaisen”

“His talent effectively giving him complete control of the space. He can stop any enemy attack from hitting him. Instead, they just hit the limitless space between the attack and him.” 25-year-old Martin Ablanza

“Given the abundance of anime series, it’s hard to rank them. The answer depends on the circumstances. Also, it depends on how you define “strongest”. Satoru Gojo z Jujutsu Kaisen is my choice because in my opinion the strongest person is the one who has both intelligence and muscles. The guy is easily the strongest Jujutsu wizard with his six eyes and Unlimited, and he is tactical, smart, cunning and brutal when he wants to.

“In close quarters or at range, it can completely destroy an opponent. He was close to death, but used a reverse cursed technique to save himself. Even though I don’t like his personality, the man is too dominant.” — Pam Luber, age 29

Ryomen Sukuna from “Jujutsu Kaisen”

“I believe that Sukuna has a good track record of being the undisputed king of curses… He is better than Gojo because he is the “king of curses.” — Eric, 31 years old

Son Goku from “Dragon Ball”

“Man is immortal. It just gets stronger after doing it. It can also figuratively blow up a planet.” — Hans Natividad, 25

Son Goku

“Since I grew up with him, he holds a very special place in mine heart. I’ll be honest and say it.” —Mathew Yuhico, 28

Rimuru Tempest from “Slime Isekai”

“He can imitate anyone’s skills. It’s grossly unfair and he’s withholding his abilities indefinitely.” —Pio Dumayas, age 26

Arataka Reigen from “Mob Psycho 100”

“Even though he had no special abilities, he dodged many times a disaster. He also knows how to get out of any situation. Of course, Mob is also quite strong, but without Reigen he wouldn’t be where he is now. “Kirana, thirty.”

Alucard from Hellsing

“The skills Alucard demonstrates at the beginning of the series are quite simple. Possesses vampire power, speed, and immortality. His weapons of choice are two high caliber pistols, each loaded with bullets that can destroy zombies“.

“Alucard’s true strength, however, lies in his ability to devour his foes and then summon them as familiars. In one iconic scene, Alucard commands armies of Wallachian and Ottoman soldiers to fight alongside him. Warning: after consuming an opponent who has the ability to exist and not exist at will, Alucard comes closest to dying. As a result, Alucard disappears and is assumed to be “dead“. But when Alucard finally reappears, not only is he still immortal, he is also in full control of his existence and can reappear wherever he pleases. — E. A. Aguirre, 30
