There has been another surge in confirmed cases of monkeypox and orthopoxviruses reported in the United States.

There are now 1,814 confirmed cases nationwide, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Where monkeypox testing has increased, so has the number of cases.

New York now shows 489 cases and California reports 266.

While other states were previously below triple digits, Florida, Illinois and the District of Columbia all have triple-digit cases.
