Tyson Fury, the WBC champion, has spoken out about the condition of Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, warning the 37-year-old about the consequences of aging.
Fury, a Manchester United fan, declared that Ronaldo’s career is “in decline”.
The British boxer told TalkSport: “If you look at Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s 37, he’s got the best doctors, the best physiotherapists, he lives like an egg in Mr Kipling’s cake.”
“But even Ronaldo is on the slide now, so even someone who has taken care of himself like that, catches up with you… so imagine a boxer who has been beaten to pieces for the last 20 years.
“The age factor is not going to wait for anyone, no matter how you have lived. Whether he’s never drank in his life, whether he’s never run on hard surfaces, it doesn’t matter who he is, age will catch up with him eventually.”
Ronaldo, who is currently a free agent after his contract with Manchester United was terminated last month, has been in the news a lot recently.
