Trump has refused to return to Twitter despite reactivating the account

Trump asks US Judge to force Twitter to reinstate his account

A former president of the United States, Donald Trump, maintains that he has no interest in returning to Twitter even though a small majority voted in favor of bringing him back. The poll was organized by the new owner, Elon Musk after he was first banned from the social media service for inciting violence.

Earlier it was reported that more than 15 million Twitter users voted in the poll with 51.8% of them voting in favor of the recall.

  • Musk after the poll tweeted, ”The people are speaking, bring Trump back.’

Trump denied the recall: However, in what appeared to be a response to the new development, Trump said he did not see the need to return to the social media network.

When asked if he planned to return to Twitter by a panel at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting, the former president said,

  • “I see no reason for it.”

He said he will stick with his new platform, Truth Social, the app created by his Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) start-up, which he says has better user engagement than Twitter and is doing well.

Twitter did not respond to a request for comment.

Trump’s Twitter account, which had more than 88 million followers before he was banned on Jan. 8, 2021, began gathering followers and had nearly 100,000 followers as of 10 p.m. ET Saturday. Some users initially reported being unable to follow the returned account on Saturday night.

Returning can harm Truth Social: Trump, in launching his presidential bid to retake the White House in 2024, praised Musk and said he likes him. But Trump also said that Twitter suffered from bots, and fake accounts and that the problems it faced were “unbelievable”.

Trump’s return to Twitter could raise questions about his commitment to Truth Social, which launched on Apple’s App Store in February and the Google Play Store in October. Trump has about 4.57 million followers on Truth Social.

Truth Social has been Trump’s way of communicating directly with his followers since he began posting regularly on the app in May. He has used Truth Social to promote his allies, criticize opponents and protect his reputation amid legal scrutiny from state, congressional and federal investigators.

Trump is obligated to give Truth Social six hours of exclusivity on any post — but is free to post “political messaging, political fundraising or get-out-the-vote efforts” on any site, at any time. , according to a May SEC filing.

For the record: Trump said in April 2022 that he would not return to Twitter if his account was reinstated. Trump’s comments about Twitter came the same day the company announced it had accepted Elon Musk’s offer to take the company publicly traded at $54.20/share, valuing the social media platform at $44 billion.

Twitter permanently banned Trump in January 2021, due to concerns about “the risk of further inciting violence” after the January 6 attack on the capitol. While Trump has violated the platform’s rules in the past, the company maintains his account under its special guidelines for world leaders and information in the public interest.
