Trade deficit soars in October


Madrid (EFE).- The trade deficit reached 60,289.5 million euros until October, which means almost quadrupling the 16,628.9 million of the same period of the previous year, due to the increase in energy prices.

According to data detailed this Thursday by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Spanish exports increased by 23.6%, to 319.731 million, while imports increased by 38%, to 380.020 million.

With this difference, the coverage rate – the percentage of imports that can be paid for with exports – stood at 84.1%, 9.8 percentage points lower than in the first ten months of 2021.
