Thousands in Barcelona call for eradication of gender-based violence – EFE News

Bilbao, Nov 25 (EFE).- Thousands of women, summoned by the feminist movement, took to the streets of Euskadi this 25N to show their rejection of violence against women, shouting “Not one more”, recalling the 38 women murdered by men this year in Spain.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the three Basque capitals organized their respective demonstrations from seven o’clock in the evening.

In Bilbao, the march started from the Plaza del Sagrado Corazón and joined it with six columns from different areas of the city: Santutxu, Uribarri, Casco Viejo, Rekalde, Deusto and Indautxu, to converge in a demonstration with more than two thousand women.

It was led by a banner with the slogan “Beldurra eta kontrola zuentzat! We are organized and even the tits!”, along with others reading slogans such as “Prostitution, abolition”.

To cries of “They touch us all, they touch one of us”, feminists denounced to the press that the “hetero-patriarchal system” continues to “hit” the lives of women and criticized the institutions because it is still difficult to denounce gender-based violence. “They don’t believe you,” they lamented.

In Euskadi, this year, between January and September, the Ertzaintza recorded 4,591 crimes of gender violence, 14.6% more than last year.
