The film is set in France in 1386. It tells about the confrontation between the knight Jean de Carrouge (Matt Damon) and the squire Jacques LeGry (Adam Driver), the former accuses the latter of mistreating his wife Marguerite de Carrouge (Jody Comer). King Charles VI decides that the best way to resolve the conflict is to fight to the death. Whoever wins will be the winner, however, if the squire wins, the knight’s wife will be burned as punishment for false accusations.
