More than 20,000 elderly people have died in retirement homes in Spain, between March and June 2020, affected by covid-19 during the months of greater intensity of the pandemic, a tragedy that Madrid filmmaker Belén Verdugo recalls in the documentary “The most cruel death”.
Belén Verdugo (Madrid, 1979), with testimonies from jurists and psychologists, will premiere this work in the DOC Spain section of the 66th International Film Week in Valladolid (Seminci), in which it will compete with other titles for a first prize endowed with 6,000 euros, sources informed the festival which will be held from 23 to 30 October.
