in Austin P.D. guarded the area from East 6th Street and Neches Street, not allowing the general public to enter in order to avoid any incidents. It is assumed that the unknown shooter was on the run, and a few hours later was detained.

in SXSW the event draws thousands of people every year and was the first event since it was suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic. The festival, which began in 1987, is a combination of various art forms such as music, poetry, comedy and film.

During our preliminary investigation, we discovered that the shooting started due to a conflict between two groups of people. Due to the ongoing investigation, we are not disclosing the name of the arrested person.”

One injured in shooting in 2019

After the incident, the Austin police assured that they had a higher level of security, as this was not the first time they had shooters. There was another shooting 2019 as a result, one person was injured.

The wounded have been taken to the hospital and authorities are asking for more information about the shooting and anyone with anything useful to come forward and share it’s with them.
