Stock market falls 0.13% as MTN, others lose weight


The stock market closed Thursday on a bearish note, prompted by profit-taking in MTN Nigeria and 9 other stocks.

The All Share Index decreased 0.13% to close at 48,365.14 points from the previous close of 48,426.49 points.

Market capitalization closed at 26.343 trillion naira, down 0.13% from the previous close of 26.377 trillion naira, thus losing 34 billion naira.

A total of 148 million units of shares were traded in 3,391 transactions, valued at N2.980 million.

Market Breadth closed positive, as 15 stocks emerged as gainers versus 10 stocks that fell in their share price.

CHAMS Plc led other gainers with growth of 9.09%, closing at N0.24 from N0.22 last session.

RTBRISCOE and PZ, among other winners, also increased their share price by 7.69% and 5.50%, respectively.

Cap Hotel led other price declines, shedding 9.80% of its share price to close at N2.76 from the previous close of N3.06.

Honeywell Flour, WAPIC and ABC Transport lowered their share prices by 9.09%, 8.11% and 7.41%, respectively.
