Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC has announced the appointment of Mr. Babatunde (Babs) Omotowa as an Independent Non-Executive Director, after receiving all required regulatory approvals.
Mr. Omotowa is an international leader in the energy industry in Europe, Africa, the United States of America, Asia and the Middle East, in organizational, commercial, strategic and operational leadership roles spanning more than 26 years.
Mr. Omotowa was the Managing Director/CEO of Nigeria LNG Limited (“Nigeria LNG”) for almost 5 years, from December 2011 to September 2016. Prior to joining Nigeria LNG, he served in various roles, including Vice President of Shell Sub-Saharan Africa, director of Shell Petroleum Development Company, non-executive director of West Africa Gas Pipeline Company, among others. Following his tenure as MD, NNLG, he served as Vice President of Shell Global Upstream E & P and later as Special Counsel to Shell Global Upstream. He is Chairman of the Advisory Board of Montserrado Oil and Gas BV, Independent Director of the Board of Pearlhill Technology USA, and President of the Nigerian University of Technology and Management.
He holds a BS in Industrial Chemistry, two Masters of Business Administration in Operations Research and Strategic Sourcing, and an Honorary Doctor of Science. She is currently pursuing a DBA at Edinburgh’s Herriot Watts University and has attended various Leadership programs at Harvard, INSEAD and IMD. His professional leadership includes being the Global Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, based in London, UK, with over 100,000 members worldwide.
