Sara Vicenta Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio, the 15th and current Vice President of the Philippines, is a lawyer and politician. She is the country’s third vice president, Mindanao’s third, and the youngest vice president in Philippine history.

Duterte ran for vice president in 2022 as part of the Lakas-CMD ticket, becoming Bongbong Marcos’ UniTeam Alliance running mate. His ticket was a landslide winner, making them the first pair of running mates to win together since 2004 and the first to be elected by majority since the establishment of the Fifth Republic in 1986. On June 30, 2022, Duterte took over as Vice President in Davao City.

The daughter of former president Rodrigo Duterte is also secretary of the Department of Education, a position she holds simultaneously. She previously served as the Mayor of Davao City from 2016 to 2022 and from 2010 to 2013. She was also the Deputy Mayor of Davao City from 2007 to 2010.

Meanwhile, Sara Duterte caught the attention of netizens after fixing the shoelace of the student she is talking to. She was pictured during the launch of San Juan LGU’s free WiFi program at Pinaglabanan Primary School on November 16.

The Secretary of Education was interviewing one of the students when she noticed that his shoelaces were untied. With her mother’s instinct, she did not hesitate to fix the student’s lace. Her gesture, which was uploaded to the Movimiento 31 Millones Facebook page, caught the attention of Internet users.
