Logroño, (EFE).- The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, highlighted this Wednesday the importance of local initiatives to strengthen social and territorial cohesion and to face the demographic challenge and depopulation, thanks to the talent of young people.
Sánchez, accompanied by the President of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, visited the town of Nájera, in La Rioja, where he organized a meeting with young people at the House of Culture of San Miguel, on the occasion of the project ” G30 La Rioja Youth”, to fight against depopulation.
The President underlined the demographic issue as a State policy, as well as “the Government’s firm commitment to the development of strategic projects of social innovation, which contribute to the objective of structuring the territory to guarantee equality opportunities for all citizens”. , the government informed, in a note, after the meeting.
In addition, Sánchez highlighted the government’s action through the National Strategy against the Demographic Challenge, with a plan of 130 measures and more than 10,000 million euros for the fight against depopulation and the strengthening of social and territorial cohesion.
The new law on start-ups, which “will strengthen modernization and rural entrepreneurship”; or the Campus Rural program, which fights against the flight of talent to urban areas, are some of the initiatives resulting from this country strategy.
In this sense, the ‘G30 Juventud La Rioja’ project, result of the commitment of the Government of La Rioja in the fight against depopulation, has been reported, focuses on young people as a driver of innovation to build a new rurality, based on the development of innovative environments and the use of local knowledge and natural resources.
