Portugal investigates death of child over possible reaction to Covid-19 vaccine

This Portuguese National Medicines Agency, Infarmed launches investigation to clarify whether children under 6 may have died as a result of their reaction to infection vaccinated against coronavirus.

A minor who died at Lisbon’s Santa Maria hospital on Sunday tested positive for coronavirus received a dose of vaccine.

Currently, an autopsy and possible analysis by Infarmed is pending.

The goal is to find probable cause of death, so they will have to analyze all the clinical information of the minor.

According to the Lisbon Hospital, the minor entered the center on Saturday after suffering a cardiopulmonary arrest.

Three children aged 0 to 9 have died from Covid-19 in Portugal since the start of the pandemic, according to the Directorate General of Health (DGS).

Portugal has 10.3 million inhabitants, with 1,906,891 confirmed cases and 19,334 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
