Jihadists are always and everywhere the victims, no matter what. And the Western media happily plays along and furthers this myth.
“Palestinian Authority Rewrites History (Again!): Car Rammer Injuring Victim With Ax Portrayed As Victim,” by Nan Jacques Zilberdik, Palestine Media Watch, November 10, 2022:
Terrorist Habes Rayyan ran over and injured an Israeli army officer with his car near Jerusalem earlier this month. Rayyan then got out of his car with an ax to attack the officer as he lay injured on the ground, but the officer managed to shoot and kill Rayyan. Despite the fact that the attack was caught on security cameras, the Palestinian Authority presents the terrorist Habes Rayyan as an innocent victim, without mentioning the terrorist attack on him…
Although the terrorist is seen attacking, the Palestinian Authority has described him as “a civilian” who was killed by “armed Israeli soldiers” and “shot by Israeli occupying forces.” Therefore, he “died a martyr” and “ascended into heaven.” Neither the official Palestinian Authority newspaper nor the official Palestinian Authority news agency bothered to mention his attack.
Contrary to Palestinian Authority reports, the terrorist’s brother spoke openly about his brother’s attack, saying that “the courage of the homeland and of Jihad” is what motivated his axe-wielding terrorist brother:
Brother of terrorist Habes Rayyan: “Today we brought to his wedding (i.e. the funeral of a martyr is considered his wedding with the 72 virgins in Paradise in Islam) our brother [Habes Rayyan]who ascended to heaven as a martyr after the crime that the occupation committed against him…
He received a national and religious education at home. He grew up in a religious family that knows the value of the country, the value of the land, the value of Ribatand the value of jihad… He had great honor and pride. She did not agree to accept the humiliation. In my estimation, This environment my brother grew up in is one of the main reasons that led to what he did. (i.e. terrorist attack) – his love for the country and the land, his pride, his honor, his strength.”

The Palestinian Authority also described 3 other terrorists as innocent people “who were shot by the occupation”, one of them a notorious assassin:
“The Jerusalem district documented 3 martyrs who were shot by the occupation and ascended to heaven… The district said the martyrs were Fayez Khaled Damdoum (i.e. terrorist, threw Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers), aged 18, from the city of Al-Eizariya southeast of occupied Jerusalem; Uday Al-Tamimi (ie terrorist, killed 1), 22, from Anata city (ie neighborhood in northern Jerusalem); and Barakat Musa Oudeh (ie terrorist, wounded 5 Israeli soldiers), 49, from Al-Eizariya city.”
[Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 3, 2022]
The Palestinian Authority often portrays dead terrorists as innocent victims of Israeli “executions.” Palestine Media Watch has documented that the Palestinian Authority slanders as cases of “summary executions” when terrorists are killed during their attacks, ignoring the actual attack.
For example, when terrorist Nidal Ja’afreh was killed while attempting to assassinate an Israeli on a bus by stabbing him with a screwdriver, official Palestinian Authority television claimed he was “executed in cold blood”…
Official PA TV Reporter: “First, the only certain fact as of this moment is that it was a summary execution. A summary execution at the hands of a settler took place today. The policy of summary execution has been the law and ideology of the occupation government for several years.”

Habes Rayyan – 54-year-old Palestinian terrorist who ran over and injured an Israeli army officer with his car at the Makkabim checkpoint between Modiin and Jerusalem on November 2, 2022. Rayyan then got out of his car with an ax to continue attacking the officer as he lay wounded on the ground, but the officer managed to shoot and kill Rayyan in self-defense. The attack was caught on security cameras. Rayyan reportedly had two sounds of Islamic Jihad terrorist prisoners.

Brother of terrorist Habes Rayyan: “Good morning to the homeland, to Jerusalem, to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to the Martyrs, to those who perform Ribat (ie religious conflict over land claimed to be Islamic), and Jihad fighters throughout the beautiful homeland. Today we brought to his wedding (that is, the funeral of a martyr is considered his wedding with the 72 virgins in paradise in Islam) our brother [Habes Rayyan] (i.e. terrorist, wounded 1), who ascended to Heaven as a martyr after the crime the occupation committed against him…
He received a national and religious education at home. She grew up in a religious family that knows the value of the country, the value of the land, the value of Ribatand the value of jihad. And he has honor and pride… My brother preached, he called the people to faith, to truth, to resolution, he called to Ribatfor being principled… and he was brave to tell the truth…
What most characterized my brother is that he was sensible, modest, smiling and loved life. He had great honor and pride. He did not agree to accept the humiliation. In my opinion, this environment in which my brother grew up is one of the main reasons that led him to what he did (i.e. terrorist attack): his love for the country and the land, his pride, his honor, his strength. One day before, the occupation detained him for four or five hours at one of the occupation checkpoints… and he detained him for no reason, we don’t know what the reason was. He could never tolerate humiliation under any circumstances. We don’t know what humiliations he was subjected to, and what happened next is that we heard that my brother ascended to the highest of Heaven…
We ask Allah Almighty to decree that our Martyr and all the Martyrs of the homeland dwell in the highest Heaven, and that He joins them with the prophets, the righteous and the Martyrs…
The message that I address to the Jews: What are you doing, what are you doing on this earth? This is land that was occupied in 1967, and under international law you are occupiers (sic, legal experts have explained that the presence of Israelis in the West Bank does not qualify as “occupation” under international law, since it was not previously Israeli territory). sovereign of another country, among other reasons). You have to get off this earth. These checkpoints that are deployed throughout the homeland, the checkpoints of slaughter and blood, every day one of the members of the Palestinian people dies as a martyr there.”
