Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan openly pleaded before the UN General Assembly on Friday to “strengthen and stabilize the current government” of the Taliban in Afghanistan “for the sake of the Afghan people”.

In a speech recorded from Islamabad, Khan argued that the alternative to this is to “bypass Afghanistan” which will lead to “a huge humanitarian crisis with very serious repercussions, a chaotic and destabilized Afghanistan which will again become a terrorist refuge “.
