Nigeria: Muslims kidnap Christians who were going by bus to a wedding

“As for the captives, the emir [ruler] you have the option of taking the most beneficial action of four possibilities: the first to kill them by slitting their throats; the second, to enslave them and apply the laws of slavery regarding their sale and manumission; the third, to ransom them in exchange for goods or prisoners; and fourth, show them favor and forgive them. Allah, exalted be He, says: ‘When you meet those [infidels] who denies [the Truth=Islam] then hit [their] necks’ (Quran sura 47, verse 4)” — Al-Mawardi, al-Ahkam as-Sultaniyyah (The laws of Islamic governance).

“Kidnapped Christians in Separate Attacks in South West Nigeria”, Morning Star News, December 1, 2022:

ABUJA, Nigeria (Morning Star News) – Last week, suspected Fulani herdsmen in southwestern Nigeria kidnapped Christian workers who were going by bus to a wedding, while another group of Christians was kidnapped on their way to a funeral in the same state.

A relative of one of the 48 Christians who were abducted on a Coaster Bus traveling from Ondo State to attend the funeral in Edo State on November 24 said her cousin escaped because she was beaten and left for dead.

“My cousin was nearly beaten to death because she couldn’t walk fast,” Judith Akande told Morning Star News in a text message. “They left her thinking that she was dead. She was later revived and was wandering in the bush until a man found her and took her to a pastor of the Apostolic Church of Christ”.

Four other captives also escaped and her cousin received medical treatment, she said.

“His daughter is among the other 43 people still being held hostage,” Akande said. “Please join me in praying for her release from her captors, believed to be herdsmen.”…
