“Armed herdsmen declare war on Enugu communities, kill many residents, pillage more villages,” Sahara Reporters, November 22, 2022:
Armed herdsmen have declared war on Eha-Amufu communities in the Isi-Uzo local government area of Enugu state, as they killed many and looted more villages on Tuesday morning.
SaharaReporters reported that armed herdsmen had invaded the Agu-Amede community on Saturday and Monday, killing no less than 10 people, including women and children.
It has been reported that the invading herdsmen also injured many, looted villages and burned houses.
SaharaReporters had previously reported that armed herders had looted more than 14 local villages in the Agu-Amede and Mgbuji communities since the second quarter of 2021.
It was also reported that so many people were killed with millions of Naira worth of property destroyed.
Furthermore, many people, including children, had been abducted by the same armed herders who use Benue State as a launching pad for ransom.
SaharaReporters reliably gathered that armed herdsmen numbering over a hundred launched the recent attack on Saturday and Sunday from the village of Ohualu Mgbede in the Agu-Amede community, killing eight people, including two children.
A community leader, Ogbu Francis, who confirmed the incident, told SaharaReporters that the armed herdsmen returned on Tuesday morning, “this time they opened several fronts, shooting, destroying property and looting villages.”
According to Ogbu, “yesterday’s attack was carried out in a village called Ohualu Mgbede in the Agu-Amede community and killed seven people, we have recovered their bodies.
“This Tuesday morning, Fulani herdsmen again came to a village called Iyi Asa in Agu-Amede shooting, burning houses and property. As we speak, they continue to attack villages. We know how many people have been killed. Now they are shooting in three towns. The military is also attacking them now. The Agu-Amede community is under siege.”
In addition, herdsmen allegedly carrying machine guns and heavy weapons are currently attacking the Mgbuji and Eboh communities in Eha-Amufu.
Cyprian Ezedeoga, who confirmed the attack, said the Fulani herdsmen had entered the towns of Mgbuji and Eboh.
“They have killed many people as well as we speak. There is neither military nor police security. Our people are there out of mercy. I have received information that 10 people have been killed in Eboh and five in Mgbuji.
“Residents are fleeing communities as we speak. My own house has been destroyed this morning. We need help. The military planes that are bombing ESN camps in other Communities should be deployed in our community. Currently, armed herders are invading villages. The Nigerian army should deploy troops here,” he lamented.

Another community leader, Augustine Odoh, also confirmed the attack, adding that the Fulani herdsmen had declared war on Eha-Amufu.
Odo said that herdsmen were currently attacking three communities in Eha-Amufu and that residents are fleeing to Ebonyi State….
Lamenting the relentless attack by the Fulani herdsmen, Odo said: “Our people cannot face them with bare hands. They come in numbers with AK-47s and other dangerous weapons, shooting and destroying for hours without opposition.
“The government will only deploy soldiers in communities in another southeast to persecute and kill members of pro-Biafra groups, especially the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), but the same soldiers cannot be deployed in our communities to stop the herders and the Islamic terrorist attacks. That is the hypocrisy of this government.”…
