Rival groups have been attacking communities in the northeast region since both sides fell apart over leadership issues.

In what appeared to be a continuation of their ongoing clash between rivalries, angry Boko Haram fighters killed at least 33 wives of Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno state.

A counterinsurgency expert, Zagazo Makama, revealed this in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

Rival groups have been attacking communities in the northeast region since both sides fell apart over leadership issues.

Since then, the groups have also clashed, and Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau was reportedly killed during one such clash in 2021.

According to Makama, the recent clash between rivalries occurred in the Sambisa Forest.

He said the action was to avenge the murder of Boko Haram commander Malam Aboubakar (Munzir) and 15 other fighters who were neutralized in deadly infighting…
