Nice “vintage seaside” views of Emilie Arnoux – Le Courrier des Amériques

Here is an artist who was well seen (including us) at the last “Art Miami” fair in December 2021, where she was represented by the Fremin Gallery (in Chelsea, New York). Emilie Arnoux is able to combine simple and at the same time adorable style. From an early age, this Norman was fascinated by the ocean and the relaxed lifestyle that surfed the culture of surfing. His work captures the divine energy and joy that you feel as you dive into the cold water to relieve the scorching heat; tanned bodies in bikinis absorb vitamin D by the pool or during an attractive swing in bright red inflatable rafts … If we were naughty (which we are not), the sea would seem to inspire him almost the opposite of the dark sky Get inspired in Normandy! 😉

More seriously, Arnoux’s neo art deco style is imbued with a certain American nostalgia, reminiscent of David Hockney and sometimes Toulouse-Lautrec. It reduces three-dimensional objects to flat geometric shapes that are contemporary and modern, reminiscent of seaside postcards from the 50’s and 60’s.
Arnoux describes his work simply: “Nothing but water, light and heat … He laughs on the beach and the wind … Then I take pencils and brushes and try to capture the energy and details. Who touched me. »
We thought it would be perfect to cover our summer edition of 2022!
