TOfrom conflict in Ukraine continues, countries around the world are seeking to support the Ukrainian army in its fight against the invading Russian troops. Ukraine desperately needs fighter jets, and Poland has several. MiG-29 fighters this would be useful, but it is unlikely that it will be possible to deliver them to the Ukrainian army through the United States.

Why does Ukraine need MiG-29 fighters?
Most Ukrainian pilots are trained on Russian-made aircraft, which is a problem since that is the country they are fighting against.
However, some of Ukraine’s allies have such plans, and Poland has a fleet of 28 MiG-29 fighter jets that they are ready to donate to the benefit of Ukraine.
Why does Poland want to transfer its MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine through the USA?
However, the Polish authorities do not want to simply transfer these plans to Ukraine directly. They fear Russian retaliation and have therefore consulted with the United States.
According to the Polish plan, they were supposed to “donate” these vehicles to the United States, which, in turn, would transfer them to Ukraine.
This, of course, is not very subtle, but it may be easier for the Polish leaders in a diplomatic sense.
Why did the US refuse Poland’s proposal for MiG-29 fighters?
However, the US was not convinced by this idea of Poland and the representative of the Pentagon. John Kirby You explained why.
“We will continue consultations with Poland and our other NATO allies on this issue and the complex logistical challenges it presents, but we do not consider Poland’s proposal to be justified,” the statement said. “It’s just not clear to us if there’s a substantial rationale for this.”
Thus, it seems that Ukraine will remain without these MiG-29 fighters for the time being.
