U.S. President Joe Biden said he had warned Chinese President Xi Jinping that investors could flee if Beijing violated sanctions imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.
“I called President Xi – not a threat at all, just told him (…) if you think Americans and others will continue to invest in China while you are violating sanctions on Russia, I believe you are making a huge wrong,” Joe Biden said in an interview with CBS Radio on Sunday.
“Currently, there is no indication that they (the Chinese) are supplying the weapons or other things that Russia needs,” the US president said. He also dismissed the idea that the Sino-Russian alliance suggests the United States is waging a new kind of Cold War. “I don’t believe this is a new or more complicated Cold War,” he said.
