Kurt Schilling, former Red Sox pitcher, feels like WNBA the star must be held responsible for violating the laws of another country.
Griner has been in detention since February. Russia after officials said they found cannabis cartridges in her luggage at a Moscow airport.
“I know this may seem like a stretch,” the 55-year-old said. “But somewhere around 300 million people understand OBEY THE FUCKING LAW, why is this such a problem?” Schilling tweeted.
“She, as far as I know from every quote of hers, has NEVER denied having committed a crime, not once,” Schilling replied to one of the comments in his tweet about how Russia 97 percent convictions.

James later clarified the comment, stating that it was not intended to insult our “beautiful country”, but rather that if he were in his place, he would think the same thing.

“I wonder if he would have the same views if it was his grandmother, mother, wife, daughter, niece or any other woman who was close to him,” wrote one fan on Twitter, and many more followed him in angry unison.
“Now ask him about the grandmother serving 60 days for the uprising that the conservatives are so ganged up on,” added another fan.
55 year old shilling insisted on accusation Griner for her situation. “Do you understand that she was arrested when she was on her way to Russia?” I asked. “Where, and they warn athletes every goddamn year, you don’t beat around the bush.”
Another commentator argued that Griner only had trace amounts of cannabis and that a fine instead of jail time would have been a suitable punishment, which did not sit well with the former pitcher.
“Really? You’re quoting American law here? Are you?” Schilling asked. “Because she was arrested in Russia after violating Russian law. A corrupt country, but they (American athletes) are always lectured that “when in Rome do like the Romans”. This was not her first round of customs.”
According to the publication, Griner was illegally detained. US Department of Stateand Biden the administration said her release was a top priority.
Her imprisonment comes at a time when relations between the United States and Russia are strained due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the United States’ financial support for that country.
