RealMadrid midfielder Toni Kroos defended the proposed European Super League format that angered fans across Europe when it was first proposed in 2021.

The German star emphasized that this should have happened a long time ago, but he does not think it will happen while he is still a player.

Kroos spoke during a podcast from OMR and he clearly praised RealMadrid the president Florentino Perez.

“I am very close to him, he is a kind-hearted person. From the first day he gave me the feeling that he is happy that I come to his club, which is unusual for a club of this size, as RealMadrid” Kroos said.

He also seemed very happy that Perez he did not try to sell it in his eight years at the club.

“I know that in these eight years he never thought for a second about selling me. At that time I came for only 25 million euros, for sure he could have sold me later for a lot of money,” Kroos said.

“I have a great relationship with the club, I really liked it. The president, the team, the fans… so I won’t leave either.”

“It should have been done a long time ago, I think it will take a while and I probably won’t see him as an active player.

“My perspective on it is that I still believe it will happen, but I can’t say when.”

“Premier League clubs have not won international titles this year. Kroos said.

“Television money in England has been significantly higher for many years, but this has not resulted in English teams winning everything.

“Thank God, not all players look only at the salary, but also to win a lot of titles and grow further.”
