Michael Jordan comparisons have happened all the time throughout history, but Ja Morant is truly giving reasons for this to happen to him. The Memphis Grizzlies star is still very young at 22 years old and he is already leading the Grizzlies on a spectacular 7-game winning streak this season. His irruption to the NBA alongside classmate Zion Williamson was one of the most spectacular ones in recent history. Morant never shies away from a good challenge and all he needs is to overcome so many injuries he suffers. When he gets past that, he will truly become a force to be reckoned with.
Perkins already compared Morant to MJ.
But instead of letting him write his own story, Ja Morant is already being compared to the man a lot of people still see as the GOAT. During one of his pundit interventions, this is what he said: “Ja Morant. When you talk about his ceiling for his career, it’s Jordan-esque. And I’ma tell you why, because think about it. When Michael Jordan came into the league in 1984, no one expected him to pan out the way that he did when he came in with (Larry) Bird, Isaiah Thomas and Magic Johnson. All of the sudden he rose to the top as the No. 3 pick. Ja Morant was the No. 2 pick, every year he is getting better and every year he is opening eyes. Every year he is shocking the world, he is doing things and he is winning.”
Perkins already told people to come back to him in ten years when Morant is already an NBA veteran. Judging on how he is currently playing the game with no fear, it’s defeinitely safe to say he has the potential to become an MVP. In a recent game, Morant was asked why he goes after the 7 footers when attacking the paint. He simply smiled and told the microphones that he doesn’t care about height, he will go after anybody no matter how tall they are. That same fearless factor is definitely something Michael Jordan carried when he was still a pro. But comparisons are never good. Let’s just wait and see how Ja Morant develops. Shall we?
