ICE is preparing an immigrant identification program that could provide some benefits to migrants

TI have US government is preparing a document that will serve as identification for undocumented immigrants pending a final decision on their asylum claims in United States.

The name of the identifier is Secure Docket Card.

The document will help people who cross the border often do not have the ability to identify themselves. This makes it difficult for them to access housing, health care and transportation while their immigration status is being resolved.

This will be a pilot program designed to alleviate some of these situations and encourage more frequent communication with authorities during a difficult legal process.

The document will be called a “Secure Docket Card” issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

It will also have a QR code

It will contain the name and nationality of the released migrant, as well as QR code which allows you to access the application where the relevant immigration and judicial information about the identified person will be registered. In addition, they will be able to update their information and keep in touch with federal authorities.

In addition, authorities will seek to include a photograph and other personal details of an identified person.

As for the document ICE it says in the statement that Secure Account Card (SDC) will become a tool for modernizing documentation forms.

Still working out how it will happen

“The details of the program are still under development, but SDC’s main goal is to improve current, inconsistent paper forms that often deteriorate quickly in actual use. Pending the results of the pilot program, ICE will consider further expansion,” the document says.

Asylum seekers can be protected

Axios reported that the document would also allow “illegal immigrants, as well as asylum seekers, if detained by the authorities, to prove that they are already registered in the immigration system.”

In addition, it would “incentivize illegal immigrants to provide accurate information about their whereabouts” and voluntarily register in exchange for the benefits offered by the document.

They may be able to fly

It could eventually even be used to allow migrants to fly, as it would serve as a valid ID in front of the TSA to board the aircraft. However, this will not be a valid voting paper as it is the right of US citizens.
