Dragon House it’s coming game of Thrones prequel to Dance of the Dragons. This is the name of a bloody civil war within House Targaryen this happened about two centuries before the original series.
The plot is based on the book “Fire and Blood” by George R. R. Martin on the history of Westeros. And this is the last major event that involved dragons and dragon riders – because dragons died out earlier. daenerys (Emilia Clarke) was hatching her three Game of Thrones. Here’s a look at what it takes to become a dragon rider in the House of the Dragon, and the 10 most powerful creatures that make up the story.
What it takes to become a dragon rider in the Dragon House
According to Martin’s novel A Song of Ice and Fire, the Valyrian Freehold in Essos was ruled by families of dragon lords who used magic to tame dragons and gain power over them. One of these families were the Targaryens, who were the only ones to survive the mysterious event known as the Doom of Valyria.
This event destroyed the city, including every human and every dragon in it. The only exception is the Targaryens, who managed to survive because they moved with the five dragons to Peyredagon shortly before the event happened.
A dragon knight is someone who can bond with a dragon. and ride it. But dragons only bond to one rider at a time – and only the Valyrians know how to do that. Since the only surviving home of the Valyrian dragon lords was that of the Targaryens, they are the last known dragon riders.
10. Moondancer – Rider of Baela Targaryen
Lady Beila Targaryen (Bethany Antonia) is the daughter of Prince Damon (Matt Smith). She rides Moondancer, a young dragon described as pale green, small, and very fast. Moondancer stays in Peyredrakon with Bale for most of the first two years of the Dance of the Dragons.
9. Dreamfyre – Ride of Helena Targaryen
Dreamfyre is the oldest dragon in Martin’s novels, a slender, pale blue creature with silver markings, silver crests, and blue wings. It is driven by Helena Targaryen (Phya Saban), daughter of King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) and sister-wife of Aegon II. The Dreamfyre is kept in the great Dragonpit near King’s Landing.
8. Vermax – Piloted by Jaqueiris Velaryon
Prince Jakairis Velarion (Harry Collette) – the son of Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Leynor Velarion (John Macmillan) – rides Vermax, a thriving dragon that grows every year.
By the time the Dance of the Dragons begins, Vermax is big enough to ride. This allows Jakeris to be his mother’s messenger, flying north on a successful mission to deal with Jane Arryn, Lady of the Nest, Desmond Manderly, Lord of White Harbor, and Cregan Stark, Lord of Winterfell. Prince Jaqueiris also uses Vermax in the Battle of Esophagus.
7. Tessarion – Daeron Targaryen rides it.
Daeron Targaryen, the youngest son of Queen Alycent (Olivia Cooke) and brother of Aegon II and Aymond, rode the Tessarion. The dragon is known as the Blue Queen and has the colors of cobalt and copper.
6. Balerion – ruled by Aegon the Conqueror
The Balerion or “Black Dread” was the dragon of House Targaryen, ridden by King Aegon I during the Conquest. Named after the ancient god of the Valyrian Freehold, Balerion was born in Valyria and was one of the dragons that Einhar Targaryen brought with him when he fled to Peiredragon to survive the Fall of Valyria. After all, he was the last dragon to see the top of the Freehold.
Balerion’s scales and wings were black. Like his fire, but red whirlwinds flashed from time to time. It was so powerful that its flames could melt steel and stone, as well as turn sand into glass. Its teeth were as long as swords and its jaws were large enough to swallow a hairy mammoth. According to the Wiki of Ice and Fire, Balerion was wayward and “not a beast to play with”.
But it was the size of Balerion that was truly breathtaking. It was so large that one of its shadows could engulf entire cities as it flew over it.
Associated with King Aegon, Balerion participated in the war in the disputed lands and in the conquest of the seven kingdoms. According to the song, Balerion helped forge the Iron Throne at the end of the war by melting down the swords of Aegon’s fallen enemies.
During the reign of King Jaehaerys in AD 93, Viserys Targaryen took Balerion. But at that time I stopped growing. Balerion eventually died of old age, less than a year after Viserys claimed him as his mount.
5. Meleys – Rhaenys Targaryen rides
Melis is known as the Red Queen and is ridden by King Viserys I’s cousin, Rhaenys Targaryen (Emily Best). It is an old dragon with scarlet scales and pink webbing on its wings. Her crest, horns and claws shine like copper.
She was considered one of the fastest dragons in Westeros in 75 AC. and was formidable in battle. But in the end, she got lazy and could no longer overtake other dragons at the top of the list.
4. Sunfyre – Ruled by Aegon II
Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Karney) fights for the Iron Throne in the House of the Dragon, and he is the rider of the Golden Sunfire. Described as the most “magnificent” dragon that has ever flown in Westeros, Sunfire is fierce and strong, his golden scales shining in the sun.
3. Vhagar – Visenya Targaryen/Eymond Targaryen.
Vhagar is one of the three legendary dragons who first conquered Westeros, along with Balerion and Maraxes. She was originally ridden by Visenya Targaryen and is the largest living dragon in the Dance of the Dragons.
After all, Vhagar is piloted by King Viserys’ second son and Aegon II’s younger brother, Aemond “One-Eyed” Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell).
2. Syrax – Mounted by Rhaenyra Targaryen.
At the age of seven, in 104 AD, Rhaenyra rode her dragon for the first time and named it Sirax, after the Valyrian goddess. It was implied that Reynira was her first rider.
Sirax is described as a “young” dragon with yellow scales at the time the princess mounted him. She was huge and formidable, but not as formidable and experienced in combat as Prince Daemon’s dragon Caraxes.
Sirax was chained and fed very well, but she hadn’t hunted for many years when the Dance of the Dragons began. However, she laid “several” clutches of eggs during Viserys’ reign. And one of those eggs was given to Reynira’s daughter-in-law, Reina. It is also implied that all the dragons of Rhaenyra’s sons were born from eggs laid by Syrax.
1. Carax – ridden by Damon Targaryen in Dragon’s House.
Caraxes was a “huge huge” red dragon, massive and lean, but quite “fighting” at the same time. It was first claimed by Aemon Targaryen, Prince of Peyredragon, in 72 AD. Because the Dragon Keepers considered him the most ferocious of all the young dragons in the dragon pit, Caraxes earned the nickname “Bloody Serpent”.
After the death of Prince Aemon, his nephew, Prince Daemon, also known as the Rogue Prince, claimed Caraxes as his mount. The main players in the Dragon Dance are Prince Daemon and Caraxes. Fans should look forward to the regular appearance of this dragon and its rider throughout the series.
