In 1990 Rodax became the top scorer in the Austrian football Bundesliga. This helped him win a contract with the Spanish group Atlético de Madrid. However, he only played for one season and then returned to Austria to play for Fast Wien.

“The OFB family regrets the absence of its former striker Gerhard Rodax,” his publication acknowledged.

Tributes have sprung up for former Austrian soccer legend Gerhard Rodax, who is dead at 57. Atlético de Madrid led the tributes for the late striker.

“The rojiblanca family is mourning the death of Gerhard Rodax. The Austrian player was a member of our team in the 1990-91 season and won a Copa del Rey. You will always be in our hearts,” the club wrote on Twitter.

Fast Wien also paid tribute to the late Austrian soccer player. “Very unfortunate information has reached us at this time,” they wrote.

“Our former participant Gerhard Rodax died in a tragic accident at the age of 57 after a serious illness.

“Our sincere condolences go out to his bereaved family.”
