Tuewhat an Oscar means to a movie, an Emmy means to Television This year’s nominees have just been announced. The full list of nominations was announced in the morning, as every year, with a few specific series as the big winners. ‘succession‘ scored the most nominations – 25.
Season 2′Ted Lasso“scored 20 of them, which is no surprise after their incredible success since 2021.”White Lotus‘ also received 20, but this was considered a limited edition. However, the biggest winner of the evening was a show that truly became a global phenomenon coming from South Korea.
The Squid Game has made Emmy Award history.
With 14 nominations, South Korea’squid game‘ became the first non-English-language series to be nominated for an Emmy Award. Sci-fi thriller has been part of every major drama category within the network. His biggest nomination was for Outstanding Drama Series. Star Lee Jung Jae also received a nomination for acting.
South Korean mega hit is still the most watched Netflix the all-time series and the impact it had on society still resonates with people all over the world. Written by Hwang Dong Hyuk, it’s possible that Squid Game is doing something similar to what Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite did at the Oscars back in 2019. Take a look at the full list of nominations below.
