Randal Kolo Munai has been named as France’s replacement for Christopher Nkunku in their World Cup squad.

In training, the RB Leipzig striker was seen colliding with Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and immediately grabbing his knee. He would miss the tournament due to a sprained knee, it was later revealed.

Didier Deschamps has chosen to take on Bundesliga striker Randal Kolo Muani in his place, according to Marca, who plies his trade with Eintracht Frankfurt. Kolo Muani arrived at Eintracht last summer from Nantes and has already scored 8 goals and given 11 assists in the 23 games in which he has participated.

So far, he has two caps to his name, but he’s been receiving admiring glances in France for some time. He contributed 20 goals in 41 appearances for Nantes last season.

While the substitute striker doesn’t usually play a big role, Karim Benzema’s fitness issues may allow him to play more minutes than expected. Benzema has only played 30 minutes since October 19.
