Becky Hammonwho is a Russian-American basketball coach in the WNBA called on the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to free Britney Grinerwho was arrested for possession of cannabis oil in Russia on 17 February.
This Thursday, Griner court is coming to an end. If found guilty, she could face up to 10 years in prison.
jamonwho won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing as part of the Russian women’s basketball team, said that it upsets Griner locked up for so long, especially given the close-knit nature of the women’s basketball community.
“This is something that is obviously very close to me, and therefore I am simply asking the Russian government to do the right thing,” he said. jamon Reuters said in an interview.

Griner will face a Russian court on Thursday, where the two-time Olympic gold medalist faces up to 10 years in prison for carrying cannabis oil vape cartridges in her luggage when she landed at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on Feb. 17.
