Elia Caprile’s time at Elland Road was cut short by the arrival of Illan Meslier as Leeds United’s main goalkeeper, and he was forced to return to his home country of Italy to find regular minutes.
After joining Bari in Serie B, Caprile could join Serie A giants Napoli in the January transfer window, according to Italian soccer agent Mario Giuffredi, who represents several Napoli players.
The 21-year-old made 19 appearances for Leeds’ Under-21s before joining Bari, where he has conceded just 16 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions, with four clean sheets.
Giuffredi told Italian radio station Radio Marte that Caprile is a player the Napoli manager wants to sign in January.
“In January, who will (Napoli manager) Cristiano Giuntoli sign? He will bring players like goalkeeper Elia Caprile.
“If I were still at Napoli, I would focus on (contract) renewals, hoping to close them before the league resumes, giving everyone peace of mind.
“If you win the Scudetto without tying everyone up, the contracts will cost you more. This is all I could think of.”
