“This is the worst day of my life” Fonseca – said Jornal de Noticias from a hotel in Kiev, where he is with his Ukrainian wife.
“I woke up at five in the morning from five explosions in a row.
“I had a flight scheduled, but now it’s impossible to fly. Airports are destroyed, airspace is closed.
“We can only pray that a bomb doesn’t fall on us. I don’t know how I’ll get out of here.”

Later, Fonseca took to Twitter to post.
“I am in Kiev” Fonseca wrote. “My family and I are going through hard times in the midst of an unacceptable war.
“But we believe that peace will prevail and we must remain strong. I have received so many messages from people in Portugal, Italy and all over the world.
“I want to thank everyone for their concern. I hope to see you all soon.”
