Floyd Mayweather announced that he would wear gloves again for an exhibition fight. The legendary fighter will land at Japan in December to fight Mikuru Asakura.
On the occasion of this announcement, the boxer from Michigan attended a press conference. Fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford was in the spotlight, especially the last one.
Mayweather Jr. answered a question about a possible date for the fight between two welterweight dominants. An ESPN report said that October 29 would be the date for the fight.
However, the former champion in up to five different categories said that nothing is official yet: “That’s not true. When it’s true, you’ll hear it from me or Fighthype first.”
This response sparked a rumor that Terence Crawford (formerly wanted by Floyd Mayweather) could be part of Mayweather shares.
Mayweather confirms nothing
He was also asked about this aspect later, although he did not give any clues: “There are so many things I can really talk about I won’t talk about it.”
In the meantime, Mayweather is preparing for a new, albeit unofficial, fight. The next few weeks will be the key to seeing if the union will hold together two of boxing’s key figures.
