England’s first game in the World Cup will be the second game of the tournament.
England kick off their World Cup campaign against Iran in the second game of the tournament in Qatar.
This will be followed by matches against the USA and Wales.
England will be hoping to advance deep in the knockout stages after reaching the World Cup semi-finals and the Euro 2020 final.
Iran, led by former Manchester United assistant Carlos Quieroz, has appeared in five World Cup finals (1978, 1998, 2006, 2014, 2018) against Qatar but has never reached the round of 16. Their 1-0 win over Morocco at the 2018 World Cup in Russia was only their second win at the tournament.
Quieroz has already made headlines at this World Cup after making a mockery of British immigration policy after a question about Iran’s stance on the oppression of women.
They are the lowest ranked team in Group B at 20th in the world.
