Madrid (EFE).- The journalist and adviser to RTVE proposed by the PSOE Elena Sánchez Caballero, whose professional career has developed fundamentally at TVE, was elected this Tuesday new interim president of the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
The choice of Sánchez, who replaces José Manuel Pérez Tornerowho presented his resignation after a year and a half of mandate, proceeded to the votes in favor of five administrators, as they specified to Efe of the company.
Born in Madrid in 1957, Elena Sánchez Caballero graduated in journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid. After having worked as a journalist since 1979 in various public and private media (Diario 16, Radio Antena 3 and EFE Agency) she joined the sports field of RTVE in 1984 and in 1987 she obtained a position as a competition editor.
Almost 40 years of experience in RTVE
For nearly four decades, he spent in front of the cameras presenting and producing information, current affairs and debate programs on La 1, La 2 and Canal 24 Horas.
She was a reporter for “Informe Semanal” and “Crónicas”, she made biographical documentaries in “Essentials” and created the body for Public Defense in 2008, which she directed until 2014.
In August 2018, she was appointed Corporate Secretary of the Corporation, a position she left by her own decision in September 2020; In March 2021, she was appointed by the Cortes as an advisor to RTVE Corporation.
Peréz Tornero announced that he had tendered his resignation after 18 months at the head of RTVE, knowing that the factors for the sustainability of the project he intended to lead for the public company no longer exist.
