Election 2023: Peter Obi says the fate of Africa depends on Nigeria

Pedro ObiThe Labor Party presidential candidate, said the fate of Africa depends on Nigeria’s political choices, so Nigerians must hold their elected officials accountable.

The politician revealed this in a sentence on Friday night after the “Shaping the Future” conference in Enugu.

Obi’s warning: He warned that Nigeria is on its knees and bogged down by numerous problems despite being the giant of Africa. He added that while the fate of Africa depends on Nigeria, the fate of Nigeria depends on good leaders. He said:

  • “Good leaders can only emerge from a system of strong and capable followers, who hold those they choose to rule to account.
  • “It’s up to you! Are you tired of being tired of this country? Then, it’s time to act. Let’s make the Office of the Enlightened Citizen the highest office in the land. It’s time to take back your country!”
  • “Nigeria is the giant of Africa. But we are on our knees, bogged down by numerous problems. Every time we try to stand up, it seems like something is holding us back. In the meantime, we are all aware of the problems and issues we are facing.”

Nigerian problems: He highlighted the problems Nigerians face to include bad leaders, insecurity, corruption, mismanagement of the economy, incompetent people holding positions at different levels of government, abject poverty amid plenty, and ethno-religious crises.

Called on Nigerians to hold their leaders accountable by using their constitutionally granted and recognized powers to hold leaders accountable; either by asking them to resign or by pressuring our elected representatives to proceed with impeachment proceedings against them.

  • “I want to say that the trajectory of the Nigerian Renaissance is clear: it is anchored and driven by young Nigerians. Seizing the moment to shape the future should be your mantra and mission.” he said.
