Santander, October 13 (EFE).- Racing resisted the goal at Los Campos de Sport de El Sardinero until this Wednesday Jorge Pombo scored against his former team, Real Zaragoza, which allowed him to celebrate a goal in LaLiga Smartbank at the parish of verdiblanca almost two years and three months later.
Racinguismo, who had not celebrated a goal in the second division since their last stage in the silver category, had seen posts -up to nine that his team took in ten days-, but he still did not know what c was to shout a goal for his team this season in an official match.
With this victory, the team of Guillermo Fernández Romo has taken a new step by chaining two consecutive victories in the silver category. They hadn’t succeeded since October 2014, when they beat Recreativo de Huelva (3-0) and Osasuna at El Sadar (0-2).
Only two goals conceded in the last six games – both in the defeat against Eibar in Ipurúa (2-1) – allowed Racing to emerge from relegation for the first time this season.
After four consecutive losses at the start, the Santander team have accumulated 11 points thanks to three wins and two draws, with five goals scored.
Provisionally fourteenth, in the absence of what Ibiza is doing today, Racing has improved its performance in all lines and even with six players absent, it has not lowered the level it has shown in the last matches.
Moreover, Romo will recover for this Saturday’s clash at El Alcoraz against Huesca suspended Juergen and Aldasoro, while the infirmary -Sekou, Unai Medina, Mantilla and Cedriz remain injured- could start emptying next week.
At the end of yesterday’s match, the Madrid coach did not hide his joy. “You have to be happy, we had the opportunity to win the first game at home and before that to score the first goal with our team,” he said.
Moreover, he assured that he was already thinking about Saturday. “I hope not to lose more people and have a good game in Huesca. Obviously I’m satisfied, the team has values and intentions, people have to be happy. There are players who are very tired, especially those who have accumulated 180 minutes, except Íñigo, who is improving as he goes,” he said.
Finally, he recalled that he always talks about “process and development” and pointed out that “the beginning is day 1 and the end is day 42, no one was saved with the 11 points” that now has his team. “Takeoff must continue to be linked to day-to-day work,” he added.
