Deepika Padukone Confronts Racial Stereotypes in Hollywood!


Deepika Padukone finally talked about her horrific experience in the United States and why she will no longer engage in projects around the world. Deepika told her story in an interview with a fashion magazine; this is the rare instance where Deepika spoke freely about dealing with racial prejudice during her stay in the country.

Deepika Padukone, who has not appeared in Hollywood since her debut XXX: The Return of Xander CageNow he explained why he was staying away.

Recently she has spoken about Hollywood’s racial prejudices and how the West looks at foreigners.

Deepika expressed this in an interview with a fashion website, revealing one incident, “I’m familiar with this actress… I met her at a Vanity Fair party and she said to me, “By the way, you speak English very well. ”

At the time, I had no idea what that meant. When I came back, I said, ‘What do you mean you speak English very well?’ I asked. Under the impression that we don’t speak English? “said.

Obviously, this isn’t the first time a person of color has received racist remarks in the United States, and this type of experience is not uncommon for artists from elsewhere in Hollywood.

He also said that one of the main reasons he avoided signing on additional projects around the world was because of his terrible experiences in the United States.

While Deepika Padukone’s decision did not lead her to become a world-class actor, she has become a global brand ambassador for Levi’s, Adidas, Louis Vuitton and now Cartier. She was also a member of the Cannes Film Festival jury earlier this year.

In an interview with Business of Fashion, Deepika discussed racial stereotypes in Hollywood and how the West looks at foreigners and said, “You’re a scientist.” You are a computer geek. You are the taxi driver. You are the psychotherapist. You own and operate a grocery store.

My fans asked why I didn’t make more global movies. But I don’t settle for that because I – and we – are so much more. It bothered me every time I visited the United States. Some of the things said and done make it clear that people do not know the world outside the world they live in.

But this wasn’t Deepika’s first encounter with racist, or at least, idiotic behavior from Hollywood. During one of her trips to the United States, the paparazzi mistook Deepika for her.
