Buhari orders AGF, RMFAC boss to immediately implement enhanced salary for judicial officers


President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate implementation of the enhanced salary and welfare scheme for judicial officers.

The directive was announced in a statement by Dr. Umar Gwandu, the special assistant on media and public relations, Office of the Attorney General of the Federation on Friday.

The AGF said that the president gave the order in accordance with his approval and directive that steps be taken to that effect.

The AGF disclosed the directive while representing the president at the official commissioning and handing over ceremony at the Nabo Graham-Douglass Campus of the Nigerian Law School, Port Harcourt of the Council of Legal Education.

Directive from Buhari: He said President Buhari directed him and the chairman of the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMFAC) to immediately initiate steps towards the realization and implementation of the enhanced salary and welfare schemes for judicial officers in the country.

He noted that the president also said that many initiatives are aimed at strengthening the capacity and independence of the judiciary, which he said remains a pillar of strength and stability for democracy in the country.

For the record: Nairametrics before reported that the National Industrial Court in Abuja has ordered an upward review of the salaries of judicial officers in Nigeria.

The judge said that the Judicial officers are suffering financial hardship and embarrassment because of their poor salaries, which is a shame to the country.
