Baker Mayfield Trade Rumors: Which Team Could Be QB’s New Home?

TOdefender Baker Mayfieldobvious farewell message Cleveland BrownsIt looks like the controversial player’s future will be outside the team that selected him first overall in the 2018 draft, speculation about the future is plentiful, but according to reports, these are some likely directions for the University of Oklahoma graduate.

Indianapolis Colts

in Indianapolis Colts Traded Carson Wentz after just one season to the Washington Commanders, now an all-around team on offense and defense and in need of a quarterback to challenge for the NFC South title.

One thing that plays in the Colts’ favor is that they have enough room for the salary cap, they currently $54.7 million under the ceiling.

Houston Texans

Mayfield’s letter to Cleveland arrived just after Deshawn Watsonmeeting people from the Browns, so given that Mayfield’s current team is a possible destination for the current Houston Texans passer, a trade involving both players makes sense.

Mayfield’s problem is that he will end up in one of the weakest squads in the league, but he could be a favorite figure to start a makeover.

Seattle Seahawks

As in the aforementioned Colts case, Seattle Seahawks left with a big void to fill after trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.

If traded to Pacific Northwest, Mayfield would compete for starting position with Drew Lock although he will presumably be head coach Pete Carroll’s first choice.

Carolina Panthers

Month Carolina PanthersThe quarterback situation led to the team re-signing Cam Newton last season, but that clearly wasn’t the solution.

Mayfield at Carolina would have had head coach Matt Rule fail with pick Sam Darnoldwho was randomly selected two picks later (third overall) in the same draft as Mayfield.
