There is, of course, domestic violence in all cultures. So posting this is just “Islamophobic”, right? Incorrect: there is domestic violence in all cultures, but only in one is it divinely sanctioned. Islam does not teach that a man can kill her wife, but once you allow him to hit her, accidents will happen.
The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should strike down those whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made them superior to others and because they spend their wealth to support them. Good women are obedient. They keep their invisible parts because Allah has kept them. As for those whose disobedience you fear, admonish them, send them to sleep apart, and beat them. — Quran 4:34
Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “hit me on the chest, causing me pain, and then said, ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would treat you unfairly?’” — Sahih Muslim 2127
Another hadith says: “Rifa`a divorced his wife after which `AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. `Aisha said that the lady (arrived), in a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) about her husband and showed her a green spot on his skin caused by her blows). It was the custom for ladies to support each other, so when Allah’s Messenger arrived, Aisha said: ‘I have not seen any woman suffer as much as believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!’”—Sahih Bukhari 7.77.5825
“‘I Just Wanted to Save Her’: Turk Stabbed His Ex-Wife Eleven Times”, translated from “”Wollte sie nur erschrecken”: Türke stach elf Mal auf Ex-Ehefrau ein”, Express, Nov. 15, 2022 (thanks to Medforth) :
A Turk (47) had to answer today before a Viennese jury for attempted murder. He had stabbed his ex-wife after she filed a complaint against him. She went to a police station in Floridsdorf on January 6 because she felt threatened by the man. On the way home, she ambushed him and stabbed her; she barely survived.
Victim had to wear a veil and was beaten
According to the prosecutor, the man “showed the Turkish woman what to do” shortly after the wedding. The woman was no longer allowed to wear skirts and she had to wear a headscarf when leaving the apartment, so for hygiene reasons she was no longer able to practice her profession as a dental assistant and worked in a call center. The couple had two children who soon began to be afraid of their father.
In 2012, his wife was physically attacked for the first time because she was talking about divorce. There were repeated beatings and choking attacks. “Today you are going to see a defendant who is a paragon of a patriarch,” the prosecutor told the jury.
On the way home from the police station, he intercepted her.
In 2019, the woman, now 41, filed for divorce, which her husband did not accept. She only moved out of the shared apartment many months later when the woman arranged emergency accommodation for him. She time and time again ambushed the family, she watched them as they left the house.
On January 6 – the woman had a new man by her side three years after the divorce – she left the apartment with her new partner to go for a walk – there she was attended by her ex-husband. After savage threats, the couple alerted the police, but the Turk had already disappeared. However, the police contacted him by phone and issued a ban on entering and approaching him, as well as a temporary weapons ban.
Turk stabbed her eleven times
This should have angered the man so much that, according to the prosecution, he drove home, took a knife with a four-inch blade, and ambushed the woman, who was meanwhile traveling alone, at her home. He stabbed her eleven times, five times in her stomach alone. Shocked witnesses alerted the rescue teams and police, which was very lucky for the woman. A doctor who was present took over first aid. The woman lost more than a liter and a half of blood. According to Christian Reiter’s medical examiner’s report, she would have bled to death without emergency medical help.
The man insisted that he only wanted to “scare” his wife. He couldn’t remember stabbing her that often, it could only have been four stabs. “But who caused the remaining seven points,” asked jury president Christoph Bauer. In reality, he just wanted to talk to her about her visitation arrangements regarding the children. “But then she told me, smiling right into my face, that she would never see the children again. I had to hurt her there,” the defendant said. “She shattered my psyche because I haven’t seen my kids in three years.”
Reason: “I wanted to educate her”
The reason for the attack: “I wanted to educate them with that,” he replied. “I just wanted to teach him not to behave like that.” When the judge complained that the woman was lucky to survive and she had to undergo four surgeries, the defendant said: “I want to thank the doctor who helped her.” Asked why the man, who has lived in Austria for 20 years, had not called the rescue, he said: “I didn’t know the phone number.”
Later he complained: “My wife is given more respect than me.” Everything is a plot against him. When the counselor asked him if he accepted the woman’s right to divorce, he said clearly: “No!” And when a juror asked him if beatings and threats were normal for him, he said: “I’m actually against violence against women.” If he is found guilty according to the charges, the man faces ten to 20 years or life in prison. The trial is scheduled until 6:00 p.m. The interrogation of the defendants did not end until 12:00, after which expert opinions and numerous witnesses gave their opinion. It is therefore questionable whether, as announced, a judgment will be issued on Tuesday.
