Murderville returns to Netflix for the holidays. On December 15, a new episode of the impromptu whodunit will hit the streaming service.
Even better, the imaginative procedural crime show will this time feature a reunion of Arrested Development stars Will Arnett and Jason Bateman. The show premiered in february, and features Arnett as Senior Detective Terry Seattle, who guides celebrity guests, playing themselves, as rookie police detectives, through largely unscripted murder cases. Bateman and Maya Rudolph will appear in the special, and while their roles aren’t exactly clear, the new trailer Netflix released for the special more than makes up for that lack of information. Check it out below.
Along with Arnett, Bateman, and Rudolph, the show’s cast includes Eliza Coupe, Kurt Braunohler, Haneefah Wood, Lilan Bowden, Dennice Cisneros, Tawny Newsome, and Courtney Parchman. Krister Johnson is the showrunner, writer and executive producer, with Owen Burke, Marina Cockenberg and Kerry O’Neill also writing.
Murderville is an adaptation of the BBC3 series Murder in Successville. The US version that arrived on Netflix earlier this year featured Annie Murphy, Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, Kumail Nanjiani, Marshawn Lynch, and Sharon Stone. No word yet on whether Murderville will return for a Season 2, but a Christmas special is a strong indicator that more may be on the way. Verify our review of season 1 here.
Bateman and Arnett co-host SmartLess, a podcast with Will and Grace star Sean Hayes. Past guests on her podcast have included Jenifer Aniston, President Joe Biden, and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.
